Samastipur (Bihar) [India], December 15: Pawan Kumar Modi, the father of Bengaluru techie Atul Subhash, has appealed for the custody of his grandson following his son’s tragic death by suicide.
Pawan Kumar has sought the intervention of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, and other leaders to ensure his grandson’s return to his family. While expressing gratitude to the police for arresting the accused, Pawan Kumar claimed that he has yet to receive justice, citing a new case filed against him in the name of his grandson for maintenance.
He stated that he is unaware of his grandson’s whereabouts and is deeply concerned for his safety. “We don’t know where she (Nikita Singhania) has kept our grandson. Has he been killed or is he alive? We don’t know anything about him,” Pawan Kumar said. He emphasized the importance of his grandson to him, saying, “For a grandfather, his grandson means more than his son,” and added that the community is supporting him in his fight for justice.
Bikas Kumar Modi, Atul Subhash’s brother, also expressed concerns about the missing child. He mentioned that they could not locate the child in the photograph circulated by the police and are desperate to know his whereabouts. He thanked the Karnataka police for arresting three individuals in connection with the case but noted that two arrests are still pending.
Atul Subhash, a 34-year-old deputy general manager in a private firm, died by suicide in his Bengaluru apartment. He left behind a 24-page suicide note accusing his wife, Nikita Singhania, and her family of harassment. In his note, he also alleged that a judge had demanded a bribe of Rs 5 lakh to “settle” a case. Following his death, Nikita Singhania was arrested in Gurugram, Haryana, while her mother, Nisha Singhania, and brother, Anurag Singhania, were arrested in Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh. All three accused have been sent to judicial custody as per the court’s order.
