Speaking at the post-match presentation, Vaibhav said,
“It feels really good. It was my first century in the IPL in my third innings. What I’ve been practicing for the last three-four months, the result is showing. I don’t see the ground so much, just focus on the ball. There is no fear. I do not think much about the bowlers, I just focus on playing.”
Vaibhav also credited his opening partner Yashasvi Jaiswal, adding,
“Batting with Jaiswal is good; he tells me what to do and infuses positive things.”
The young sensation’s fearlessness was on full display as he tore into the Gujarat attack, smashing Ishant Sharma for 28 runs in an over (two fours and three sixes) and plundering 30 runs off Karim Janat in another over (three fours and three sixes).
In pursuit of a steep 210-run target, Vaibhav thrilled fans with a stunning 101 off just 38 balls, decorated with seven boundaries and eleven towering sixes, at a strike rate of 265.79.

He raced to his century in just 35 balls — the second-fastest century in IPL history after Chris Gayle’s 30-ball carnage in 2013 — and became the fastest Indian centurion in IPL history.
At 14 years and 32 days, Vaibhav also shattered the record for being the youngest centurion in T20 cricket, surpassing Vijay Zol’s previous mark (18 years, 118 days).
His innings also ranked as the seventh-fastest century in T20 history, with Sahil Chauhan of Estonia holding the record for the fastest T20 century (27 balls).

Adding more to the record books, Suryavanshi reached his fifty in just 17 balls — the fifth-fastest IPL half-century — and became the youngest ever to score a fifty in the league.
Together with Yashasvi Jaiswal (70* off 40 balls), Vaibhav forged a 166-run opening partnership — the highest stand for any wicket in Rajasthan Royals’ history, surpassing Jos Buttler and Devdutt Padikkal’s 155-run stand in 2022.
Rising Star’s Journey:
Vaibhav, who started his IPL career by smashing a six off Shardul Thakur’s first ball he faced, has now scored 151 runs in three matches at an average of 75.50 and a strike rate of 222.05.
Picked for Rs 1.1 crore at the IPL 2024 mega-auction, Vaibhav hails from Bihar, born on March 27, 2011. He made his first-class debut for Bihar at just 12 years and 284 days old and was part of the India U19 squad, where he cracked a 58-ball century against Australia. He also shone during the ACC U19 Asia Cup 2024-25, finishing among the top run-scorers.
Match Summary:
Earlier, GT had posted 209/4 in their 20 overs, powered by half-centuries from Shubman Gill (84 off 50) and Jos Buttler (50* off 26). Maheesh Theekshana (2/35) was the pick of the RR bowlers.
In the chase, Rajasthan Royals, led by Vaibhav (101) and Jaiswal (70*), blew GT away, wrapping up the win in just 15.5 overs. Riyan Parag chipped in with a quick 32* off 15 balls to finish things off.
Currently, RR are placed eighth on the points table with three wins from 10 matches (6 points), while GT sit third with six wins from nine matches (12 points).
