Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], June 1: Actor Shriya Pilgaonkar is set to take on a gritty new role as a police officer in the upcoming ZEE5 murder mystery, Chhal Kapat: The Deception. Directed by Ajay Bhuyan, the psychological thriller also stars Kamya Ahlawat, Ragini Dwivedi, Tuhina Das, Yahhve Sharma, Pranay Pachauri, Smaran Sahu, and Anuj Sachdeva.
Set against the hauntingly atmospheric backdrop of a village near Burhanpur, the story unfolds during a destination wedding at an ancestral haveli. Bride-to-be Alisha Dixit brings together her childhood friends—Mehak, Ira, and Shalu—for the first time in years. What begins as a nostalgic reunion quickly spirals into a chilling mystery when Shalu, a rising social media influencer, is found dead.
As secrets unravel and buried resentments surface, the festive gathering descends into chaos. At the heart of the investigation is Inspector Devika, played by Pilgaonkar—an intelligent, no-nonsense cop with a dark past that influences her sharp instincts and investigative style.
Speaking about the project, Shriya said in a press statement, “Chhal Kapat: The Deception isn’t your typical whodunnit. I’m excited to play a cop for the first time—but what makes Devika unique is her depth. She’s haunted by her own past, and that’s what makes her a better investigator. Devika doesn’t fit into the usual black-and-white portrayal of officers—she’s layered, morally grey, and deeply human.”
The official trailer of the series was unveiled on Sunday, giving a glimpse into the tense, emotionally charged narrative that lies ahead.
