Patna (Bihar) [India], June 1: A week after being expelled from the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and publicly disowned by his father, Lalu Prasad Yadav, Tej Pratap Yadav on Sunday affirmed his continued support for his younger brother, Tejashwi Yadav, vowing that no force could drive a wedge between them.
In an emotionally charged post on social media platform X, Tej Pratap invoked imagery from the Mahabharata, likening his brother to Arjun and himself to Krishna. “Those who dream of separating me from my Arjun, you will never succeed in your conspiracies; you can take Krishna’s army, but not Krishna himself. I will soon expose every conspiracy,” he wrote.
Tej Pratap further said, “Just have faith, my brother; I am with you in every situation. Right now, I am far away, but my blessings were and will always be with you. My brother, take care of mummy and papa. Jaichand is everywhere—inside as well as outside.”
Earlier in the day, Tej Pratap posted an emotional message addressed to his parents, Lalu Prasad Yadav and Rabri Devi, pleading for their love and expressing anguish over his expulsion. “My dear mom and dad… My whole world is just you two. You and any order given by you are greater than God. I just need your trust and love and nothing else,” he wrote, blaming “conspiracies” within both the party and the family for his ouster.
This development comes in the aftermath of a controversial Facebook post in which Tej Pratap allegedly disclosed a 12-year relationship with a woman named Anushka. Though he later claimed his account was hacked, the incident reignited public attention to his troubled personal life, including a pending divorce case with his wife Aishwarya Rai, granddaughter of former Bihar CM Daroga Rai.
Reacting to the controversy, Lalu Yadav issued a public statement condemning his son’s conduct. “The activities, public behaviour, and irresponsible conduct of my eldest son are not in line with our family’s values and cultural ethos. Ignoring moral values in personal life weakens our collective struggle for social justice,” he said, announcing Tej Pratap’s six-year expulsion from both the party and the family.
Tejashwi Yadav, currently the Leader of the Opposition in Bihar Assembly, also supported the decision, stating that personal and political matters must remain separate. “He is my big brother, and what decisions he makes in his personal life are up to him… Politics and personal life are different,” he said.
The timing of the controversy is politically sensitive, as Bihar is headed for Assembly elections later this year, and the RJD is seeking to project unity and discipline within its ranks.
