Prayagraj (Uttar Pradesh) [India], January 17: The banks of the Ganga are alive with music as the ‘Sanskriti Ka Sangam’ program, organized by the Department of Culture, unfolds at the Mahakumbh. On Thursday evening, Shankar Mahadevan captivated the devotees with his soulful performance, including his rendition of ‘Chalo Kumbh Chalein.’ Over the next few days, renowned singers such as Kailash Kher, Kavita Krishnamurthy, Hariharan, and others will take the stage to add to the musical extravaganza.
The event was inaugurated by Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya, who lit the ceremonial lamp, marking the beginning of the program. This was followed by a powerful Ganesh Vandana, which echoed across the Ganga Pandal.
The event was attended by Mayor Ganesh Shankar Kesariwani, MLA Pooja Pal, and other public representatives and officials. Expressing his gratitude, Shankar Mahadevan shared how honored he felt to perform at Mahakumbh, thanking Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for their vision in organizing this grand event.
Kailash Kher, who performed at the previous Mahakumbh in 2013, will also perform at the ‘Sanskriti Ka Sangam’ program. He is scheduled to perform at the closing ceremony of the musical and cultural event. In an interview, Kher spoke about the significance of Mahakumbh, saying, “Mahakumbh is a historic festival. It represents the essence of Sanatan culture. I am extremely honored to perform for the devotees at the Sangam. Mahakumbh showcases the cultural and spiritual strength of India.”
Kher also shared his plans to take a holy dip at the Sangam and encouraged people to attend Mahakumbh, stating, “Everyone should visit Mahakumbh. They will get to learn so many things about Hindu culture.”
In addition to Kher, renowned singers Hariharan and Kavita Krishnamurthy are also set to perform at the ‘Sanskriti Ka Sangam’ program in the coming days.
