Palnadu (Andhra Pradesh) [India]: Amid rising concerns over the alleged deaths of over 150 cows at the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) Goshala, YSRCP leaders have launched a scathing attack on the Telugu Desam Party (TDP)-led Andhra Pradesh government, demanding transparency and immediate action.
❗ “Why Are These Cows Dying?”: Kasu Mahesh Reddy
Speaking to ANI, YSRCP leader Kasu Mahesh Reddy criticized the state leadership for remaining silent.
“We are not asking how many cows died. We are asking why this is happening and what action is being taken,” said Reddy. “Neither Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan, nor the TTD Chairman have provided a response.”
🧾 YSRCP Demands Full Disclosure of Goshala Records
YSRCP MLC Vanka Ravindra echoed similar concerns, calling for full public disclosure of the TTD Goshala’s records:
“The government must provide statistics: how many cows were brought in, tagged, how many died, and how the carcasses were disposed of. Devotees deserve transparency,” said Ravindra.
He added that instead of investigating, the government is “challenging the opposition,” which he termed “unfair.”
🚨 Protest and Political Fallout
The issue came into the spotlight after former TTD Chairman Bhumana Karunakar Reddy alleged mass cow deaths due to negligence. On Thursday, he was denied entry to the TTD Goshala and staged a protest by lying down on the road.
“This is about sacred cows in one of India’s holiest sites. The silence of those in power is shocking,” a YSRCP spokesperson said.
In response, the TDP dismissed the allegations, claiming they were politically motivated attempts by the opposition to “stir religious tensions.”
🔍 What’s at Stake
The TTD is one of India’s most revered temple trusts, managing the Tirumala temple and associated services, including the Goshala which is home to hundreds of cows. Allegations of poor maintenance and negligence are being seen as not just administrative failures but potentially faith-sensitive issues.
