Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], April 18: Actor Radhika Apte is back in the spotlight with the first look of her upcoming film ‘Sister Midnight’, marking her return to acting after becoming a mother in December 2024.
Unveiled on Instagram by the film’s makers, the poster features Radhika in a gritty new avatar — standing alone on a dimly lit street, clutching a mop, and wearing a green-and-blue saree. The striking imagery immediately caught fans’ attention, many comparing it to Martin Scorsese’s 1976 classic Taxi Driver.
The caption for the poster read: “The official US Taxi Driver-inspired poster,” sparking enthusiastic reactions.
“Instantly reminded me of the Taxi Driver poster,” one fan wrote, while another added, “I saw the trailer and this will be an epic movie.”
Directed and written by Karan Kandhari, Sister Midnight is a black comedy set in Mumbai, weaving through locales like Marine Drive, Bandstand, and Mumbai’s local trains. The story follows Uma (played by Radhika), a woman wrestling with the monotony and expectations of her daily life — a raw, emotional exploration of womanhood and personal freedom.
The film premiered earlier this year at the Cannes Directors’ Fortnight, where it received critical acclaim.
Release Dates:
