Rohit Sharma Greeted by Sea of Fans Chanting “Mumbaicha Raja”

During a recent trip to Mumbai for Ganesh Chaturthi, India’s ODI skipper Rohit Sharma was met by a huge and excited audience, showing how popular he still is. A viral video from Worli shows hundreds of supporters surrounding his car and screaming “Mumbaicha Raja” (King of Mumbai) as he came out of the sunroof to wave to them and say hello.

The scenes showed how close Sharma is to the city. He not only plays for the domestic team, but he also captained the Mumbai Indians to a record five IPL titles. Fans screamed loudly and held up signs and even a cricket bat to show their support for their “king,” which showed how famous he was in the area.

Sharma is getting ready to make his long-awaited return to international cricket, and this public appearance comes at a good time. Since the end of IPL 2025, he hasn’t played, but sources say he has passed his fitness test and is ready to join the Indian team. In October, he is slated to be the captain of the team in a three-match ODI series against Australia.

It was recently revealed that Sharma and fellow veteran Virat Kohli will initially play for India A in a one-day series against Australia A in Kanpur later this month. This will be an important warm-up for the actual tour. Fans and experts are talking a lot about the fact that both players are back on the field after retiring from Test and T20 cricket to focus on the ODI format.

The huge number of fans who came out to see Sharma and the viral video show how popular he is and how excited everyone is for his comeback to the field.
