Directed by Chris Miller (Shrek the Third, Puss in Boots), the Smurfs reboot follows Smurfette as she takes charge of her tiny blue tribe after Papa Smurf is mysteriously kidnapped by evil wizards.

The film will be released in theatres on July 18 in both English and Hindi.

A Legacy Reimagined

The Smurfs franchise, originally created by Belgian comics artist Peyo, has enjoyed a long history of success. While the 2011 live-action adaptation starring Neil Patrick Harris received mixed reviews, it was a commercial success and led to two more films: The Smurfs 2 (2013) and Smurfs: The Lost Village (2017).

The reboot now falls under the banners of Paramount and Nickelodeon, which acquired rights in 2022, and the current installment is shaping up to be both a nostalgic throwback and a fresh new take.
