Rahul Gandhi To Launch ‘Shiksha Nyay Samvad’ In Bihar’s Darbhanga To Spotlight Education And Jobs

Darbhanga, BiharLeader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha and senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is set to launch the ‘Shiksha Nyay Samvad’ campaign in Darbhanga on Thursday, kicking off a state-wide initiative aimed at addressing education-related injustices and job scarcity in Bihar ahead of the crucial Assembly elections later this year.

Rahul Gandhi departed from his residence early Thursday morning for Darbhanga, where he will interact directly with students at colleges, universities, and hostels, engaging them on issues of educational delay, unemployment, and systemic reforms.

Congress Promises Timely Degrees, Jobs, and ‘Shiksha Nyay’

Taking to social media, the Bihar Congress unit posted:

“Education justice begins in Bihar from May 15! Rahul Gandhi is bringing ‘Shiksha Nyay Samvad’ — a voice for the rights of the youth! Now students will get their degrees on time and secure jobs! Now no debt, you will get your rights based on your ability!”

The move is being seen as a direct outreach to Bihar’s disillusioned youth, particularly in the wake of widespread protests and dissatisfaction surrounding the BPSC Teacher Recruitment Exam (TRE) 3.0 results.

Kanhaiya Kumar Announces ‘Nyay Samvad’ Across Bihar

On Wednesday, Congress leader Kanhaiya Kumar announced the launch of the broader ‘Nyay Samvad’ campaign across Bihar starting May 15, with a specific focus on:

  • Education
  • Employment opportunities
  • Youth participation in governance
  • Social justice and equity

“Congress leaders will interact with people from all communities and gather their concerns to create a ‘Nyay Patra’ — a people’s manifesto for the upcoming elections,” Kumar stated during a press conference.

He emphasized that the campaign would build momentum around issues often ignored by the ruling dispensation, especially employment guarantees and higher education reforms.

Backdrop: Youth Discontent Over BPSC Recruitment Row

The ‘Shiksha Nyay Samvad’ initiative comes against the backdrop of intense youth-led protests over the Bihar Public Service Commission’s (BPSC) TRE 3.0 exam.

On May 7, police resorted to lathi-charge on protestors, many of whom were teaching aspirants, as they marched towards Bihar CM Nitish Kumar’s official residence demanding clarity on vacant posts and anomalies in result declarations.

This followed a series of protests since early April, including Rahul Gandhi’s participation in the NSUI-led ‘Palayan Roko Naukri Do’ rally in Begusarai.

Political Stakes High in Bihar Ahead of Assembly Elections

The Congress party’s new outreach aligns with its strategy to reclaim political ground in Bihar as the state heads toward elections in October–November 2025. The last Assembly polls in 2020 saw the Congress struggling to make significant gains despite being part of the Mahagathbandhan (Grand Alliance).

Rahul Gandhi’s engagements are also aimed at reenergizing the Congress cadre, particularly the student and youth wings, which have played a pivotal role in past social justice movements in the state.
