Prime Video has officially launched a new investigative thriller series called Raakh. The show will have a strong cast, including Mirzapur star Ali Fazal, Sonali Bendre, and Aamir Bashir. The streaming service plans to show the series for the first time in 2026.
The announcement came out on Monday with the release of the show’s first-look poster. It shows Ali Fazal in a police uniform, which confirms that he would be playing an officer in the show. The tagline “Justice will rise from the ashes” and the poster suggest that this is a dark and high-stakes criminal drama.
EndemolShine India and Gulbadan Talkies worked together on the well-known show Raakh. Prosit Roy, who is known for his work on the highly acclaimed movie Pari and the series Paatal Lok, is the executive producer and director of the series. Anusha Nandakumar and Sandeep Saket wrote, directed, and co-directed it.
A US-based news outlet said that Nikhil Madhok, Director and Head of Originals at Prime Video India, called the series a “highly emotional story” that “is a thriller full of surprises and high-stakes drama.” He also said that the show is one of the “most powerful stories” the platform has ever made.
Director Prosit Roy agreed, saying that Raakh is a “deeply immersive world that pushes boundaries while exploring the complex layers of human nature.” He said that the performers did a great job of adding “unprecedented depth” to their roles because the show explores the “grey areas” of morality and justice and the psychological intricacies of the characters.
Ali Fazal’s last movie was Metro…In Dino, and this series is a big step forward for him. It is also a big project for Sonali Bendre, who has just returned to acting in shows like The Broken News.
Raakh is set to come out in 2026 all over the world. It is slated to be a daring and genre-defining addition to Prime Video’s Indian Originals lineup.
