Fans of the “God of Masses,” Nandamuri Balakrishna, can finally celebrate: Akhanda 2 has a new, confirmed release date. The highly anticipated sequel, which was postponed mere hours before its planned release on December 5, will now arrive in theatres on December 12, 2025.
The official announcement was made by the film’s makers, 14 Reels Plus, on their official X account late Tuesday night.
New Release Details
The makers shared an energetic new poster along with the updated release schedule:
“All set for the Divine Destruction at the box office 🔥 Feel the MASSive power of #Akhanda2 in theatres from 𝐃𝐄𝐂𝐄𝐌𝐁𝐄𝐑 𝟏𝟐 with grand premieres on December 11th 💥🔱 BOOKINGS OPEN SOON!”
The grand premieres of the film will take place a day earlier, on December 11, setting the stage for the worldwide release.
Reason Behind the Postponement
Last Thursday, the producers shocked fans by revealing that the film would not meet its scheduled release date. Distributor 14 Reels Plus issued an apology without giving specific reasons for the delay:
“We’ve tried our absolute best to bring #Akhanda2 to the big screens, but despite our tireless efforts, sometimes, the most unexpected things happen, and unfortunately, this is that time. We sincerely apologize to all the fans and cinema lovers across the world who have been eagerly waiting for the film…”
Although the makers kept the reason private, it is widely believed that an ongoing court case was the source of the unexpected hurdle. Eros International Media Limited had approached the Madras High Court regarding pending arbitration money, amounting to ₹28 crore plus interest, which 14 Reels Entertainment Private Limited had allegedly owed them for 11 years. Reports suggest that the necessary clearance was obtained just a day before the new release date was announced.
