Washington DC [US]: Acclaimed Indian filmmaker Natesh Hegde, best known for Pedro and Vaghachipani, is set to take a new leap in his cinematic journey with the launch of his own production house Fox and Friends, alongside fellow director Ganesh Hegde, as reported by Variety.
Their debut venture under the new banner will be a mystery crime drama titled ‘Kurka’, which is directed by Ganesh Hegde. Ganesh previously earned recognition with his award-winning debut film Neeli Hakki (2021), which won the Karnataka State Film Award for Best Debut Feature.
Interestingly, Natesh Hegde will not only be producing but also acting in ‘Kurka’, further showcasing his evolution from an indie director to a multifaceted force in the industry.
According to Variety, ‘Kurka’ follows the journey of Munna, the defiant son of an ex-soldier-turned-quarry worker, who finds himself entangled in the murky local power struggles while trying to process personal grief. His pursuit of answers leads to what is described as a “surreal transformation” as he faces a “test of truth.”
The cast of Kurka includes well-known Kannada film talents like Avinash, Vijay Raghavendra, and Anupama Gowda. Ganesh Hegde is not only directing but also serving as the cinematographer, while Natesh Hegde takes on the role of editor, highlighting the collaborative spirit between the two filmmakers.
Natesh Hegde’s Vaghachipani (Tiger’s Pond) recently made headlines by becoming the first Kannada-language film to premiere at the Berlin Film Festival’s Forum strand, a historic achievement that underscores his growing international acclaim.
With Kurka, Fox and Friends marks a bold new chapter in Indian regional cinema—blending artistic storytelling with grassroots narratives, poised to engage audiences on a broader stage.
