Sanaa – Israel bombed the Yemeni capital, Sanaa, and the northern region of al-Jawf on Wednesday. This attack was the latest in a series of raids and counterstrikes between Israel and the Iran-aligned Houthi terrorists. Houthi media said that the assaults killed and hurt a number of individuals, but they did not give an exact number.
The Israeli military said that the strikes were real and that they hit a number of Houthi military bases. The places that were attacked were military camps, the Houthi military’s “propaganda” department’s headquarters, and a place where gasoline was stored. Witnesses in Sanaa told Reuters that the missile hit a hideout between two mountains that is known to be a Houthi command and control center. Witnesses also said that the strikes were aimed at the Houthi defense ministry.
The bombings are part of the ongoing fallout from the fighting in Gaza. The Houthis have attacked many ships in the Red Sea to show their support for the Palestinians. The Houthis have also shot missiles and drones at Israel, although most of them have been stopped by Israel’s military systems.
The Israeli military reported that the strikes were “carried out in response to attacks led by the Houthi terror regime against the State of Israel, during which unmanned aerial vehicles and surface-to-surface missiles were launched toward Israeli territory.”
The incident on Wednesday happened just a few days after a similar one in Sanaa on August 30 that was the first of its type to hit high-ranking Houthi officials. The strike killed the prime minister of the Houthi-led government and a number of other ministries, which meant that the conflict had gotten much worse.
The Houthis, who govern a lot of Yemen, have been a big component of the regional tensions that the Gaza war has caused. In the past, Israel has retaliated to Houthi attacks by hitting places controlled by the Houthis, such as the important Hodeidah port. The ongoing gunfire between the two sides has raised worries about the possibility of a larger confrontation in the region.
