New Delhi [India], June 5: In a major digital upgrade, Indian Railways has revamped its e-ticketing infrastructure to boost transparency, security, and user experience, the Ministry of Railways announced.
Deploying anti-BOT systems and partnering with a leading Content Delivery Network (CDN) provider, the Railways has drastically reduced automated ticket scalping. Bot traffic—peaking at 50% of login attempts during Tatkal hours—has been effectively curbed, ensuring smoother access for genuine users.
🚆 Key Highlights:
- 2.5 crore fake/suspicious user IDs deactivated.
- Record 31,814 tickets booked in one minute on May 22, 2025.
- Aadhaar-authenticated users can book tickets immediately; others must wait 3 days post-registration.
- Daily logins surged 19.53% (from 69.08 lakh to 82.57 lakh).
- Ticket bookings rose 11.85% year-over-year.
- 86.38% of all reserved tickets now booked online.
The platform upgrade includes:
- AI-powered bot detection and mitigation.
- 87% of static content served via CDN for faster site performance.
- Easy complaint reporting via Cyber Crime Portal.
Upcoming Changes:
The Railways is considering mandatory Aadhaar authentication for all online and counter Tatkal bookings, to tighten fraud control and ensure fairness.
