Bengaluru — A night of celebration turned into a heartbreaking tragedy at Bengaluru’s Chinnaswamy Stadium, where a stampede claimed 11 lives during a post-match event following Royal Challengers Bangalore’s historic IPL win. All victims were under the age of 40, with the youngest being just 13 years old.
The victims, many of whom had come with friends to celebrate RCB’s maiden IPL trophy win after 18 years, were caught in the overcrowded rush that broke out after the match. Eyewitnesses said security arrangements proved inadequate to handle the surging crowd.

At least 47 others were injured in the incident and are being treated at various hospitals across the city.
Most Victims Were Young Fans
Many of the victims were students or young professionals who had come to the stadium to be part of the grand celebration. While several were local residents of Bengaluru, some had reportedly traveled from nearby districts to witness the historic moment.

The Royal Challengers Bangalore’s IPL 2025 victory, a long-awaited triumph, had drawn thousands to the stadium, both inside and outside. What was meant to be a festive occasion ended in chaos and grief as the jubilant crowd surged toward exit points, triggering the fatal stampede.
