Top police officials assess strategic locations across Jammu, Samba, and Kathua; focus on fuel depots, power stations, and communication hubs amid heightened vigilance.
Jammu (Jammu and Kashmir), May 4:
Inspector General of Police (IGP), Jammu Zone Bhim Sen Tuti, along with DIG Jammu-Samba-Kathua Range Shiv Kumar Sharma, conducted a comprehensive review of security arrangements across the National Highway and key installations on Saturday.
According to an official release, the security audit included visits to several critical points such as Gangyal, Samba City, Kathua, Lakhanpur, Police Posts at Basantpur, Mahanpur, Rampur, Majalta, Manwal, Jindrah, and Domel.
Priority on Infrastructure Protection and Commuter Safety
With the strategic importance of the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway, the IGP emphasized tightened security around vital infrastructure, including fuel depots, power stations, and communication networks.
Special instructions were issued to increase personnel deployment, enhance surveillance, and improve inter-agency coordination to prevent any potential security breaches.
“Vulnerabilities were identified and immediate directives were given to address them. Critical installations must be under constant surveillance,” the official statement noted.
Modern Surveillance, Patrolling, and Crisis Preparedness
IGP Tuti ordered:
- Intensified patrolling
- Random vehicle checkpoints
- Deployment of advanced surveillance tools such as CCTV and motion-detection equipment
He also stressed the importance of:
- Community policing
- Regular mock drills
- Inter-agency collaboration for rapid crisis response
Senior Officers Join On-Ground Review
The inspection was supported by senior officers including:
- Shobhit Saxena, SSP Kathua
- Joginder Singh, SSP Jammu
- Virender Singh Manhas, SSP Samba
Their joint efforts aim to reinforce public safety, especially along the heavily trafficked highway corridor connecting Jammu with Punjab and other key regions.
