New Delhi [India], December 29: Despite facing economic challenges, the Pakistan Army continues to support terrorist activities, with 60 percent of the terrorists killed in Jammu and Kashmir in 2024 being Pakistani nationals, according to Army officials.
Local recruitment into Pakistan-backed terror groups has remained minimal, with only four local recruits joining these outfits this year.
In various operations and encounters, security forces have neutralized around 75 terrorists across different regions of Jammu and Kashmir, including the Jammu region and Kashmir Valley. These operations also involved firefights during terrorist infiltration attempts along the Line of Control.
Pakistan has long been a major source of terrorism, primarily targeting India. The Pakistani-backed terrorism in Jammu has escalated since last year, especially in districts like Rajouri, Poonch, Doda, Kishtwar, Kathua, and Reasi. However, security forces have managed to curb these activities with an increased troop deployment, particularly after the withdrawal of the Rashtriya Rifles for border security operations related to China.
Army Chief Gen Upendra Dwivedi and Northern Army Commander Lt Gen MV Suchendra Kumar have prioritized counterterrorism efforts in the region under the White Knight Corps, focusing on eliminating remaining threats.
