Washington [US]: The much-anticipated trailer for the horror-thriller Weapons, starring Josh Brolin, Julia Garner, Alden Ehrenreich, Austin Abrams, Cary Christopher, Benedict Wong, and Amy Madigan, has been unveiled by the makers.
Written, produced, and directed by Zach Cregger, Weapons explores the terrifying aftermath in a small American town where 17 children from the same classroom vanish overnight without a trace.
According to an official synopsis via People:
“When all but one child from the same class mysteriously vanish on the same night at exactly the same time, a community is left questioning who or what is behind their disappearance.”
The newly released trailer opens with an ordinary school day, narrated through a child’s voiceover:
“This is a true story that happened in my town. So this one Wednesday is like a normal day for the whole school, but today was different.”
“Every other class had all their kids, but Mrs. Gandy’s room was totally empty. And do you know why? Because the night before, at 2:17 in the morning, every kid woke up, got out of bed, walked downstairs and into the dark. And they never came back.”
As the mystery unfolds, Josh Brolin’s character is seen grappling with the strange disappearance, asking a room full of distressed parents:
“I don’t understand at all. Why just her classroom? Why only hers?!”
An earlier teaser released on April 21 featured eerie scenes of children fleeing their homes in the dead of night, while Brolin’s voiceover hinted at the chaos to come.
Weapons is set to hit theatres on August 8, and promises a gripping, psychological horror experience with a dark, supernatural twist.
