Los Angeles [US]: Miky Lee, the renowned executive producer of the Oscar-winning film Parasite, will be honoured with the Ellis Island Medal of Honour, recognizing her instrumental role in globalizing Korean entertainment.
Lee, vice chair of CJ Group, is among the 2025 honorees for the prestigious award, joining a distinguished list that includes Oscar-winning actor Adrien Brody, Pfizer CEO Albert Bourla, and Nobel laureates Dr. James Patrick Allison and former U.S. Energy Secretary Dr. Steven Chu, according to Variety.
“We are thrilled to include Miky Lee as one of this year’s prestigious honorees,” the Ellis Island Honors Society said in announcing Lee’s selection. “Over the past three decades, Miky Lee, vice chair of CJ Group, has been instrumental in elevating Korean culture to the world stage. As the executive producer of groundbreaking films like ‘Parasite’ – the first non-English language film to win the Academy Award for best picture – and ‘Decision to Leave,’ she has played a pivotal role in bringing Korean cinema to international prominence.”
Miky Lee’s contribution to the entertainment industry spans over 30 years. She was an early investor in DreamWorks back in 1995, helping bridge Hollywood and Korean cinema.
Her more recent work includes producing A24’s critically acclaimed film Past Lives, which received a Best Picture Oscar nomination and has been widely praised for its emotional depth and storytelling.
