“Will Continue To Inspire All Generations To Come”: Delhi CM Atishi Pays Last Respect To Manmohan Singh

Delhi Chief Minister Atishi and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Chief Arvind Kejriwal expressed their heartfelt condolences following the demise of former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, remembering him as a transformative leader whose contributions shaped modern India.

“Paid last respects to former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh and extended my condolences to his family,” Atishi shared in a post on X (formerly Twitter).

She described Dr. Singh as:

  • A leader with quiet strength, unwavering integrity, and deep commitment to the nation’s progress.

AAP Chief Arvind Kejriwal’s Tribute

Arvind Kejriwal also joined in paying respects, stating:
“Paid my last respects to former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh ji. Met his family during this solemn moment and extended my condolences.”

He highlighted Singh’s legacy as:

  • A visionary leader whose economic reforms laid the foundation for modern India.
  • A man of humility who touched countless lives through his leadership.

Manmohan Singh: A Legacy of Leadership and Reform

  • Born: September 26, 1932.
  • Roles Held:
    • Governor of the Reserve Bank of India (1982-1985).
    • Finance Minister of India (1991-1996).
    • Prime Minister of India (2004-2014).
  • Notable Achievements:
    • Spearheaded economic liberalisation in 1991 under PV Narasimha Rao’s leadership, addressing a balance of payments crisis and opening the Indian economy to foreign investment.
    • Introduced the National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) and the Right to Information Act (RTI) during his tenure.

Manmohan Singh retired from the Rajya Sabha earlier this year after an illustrious 33-year career.
