New Delhi [India], December 27: Payal Kapadia’s acclaimed film All We Imagine as Light is set to begin its digital journey soon. After earning two Golden Globe nominations for 2025, the film will be available for streaming on Disney+ Hotstar starting January 3.
Expressing her excitement about the OTT release, Payal shared in a press statement, “I am thrilled by the love All We Imagine as Light has received. After a successful theatrical run, I am happy that it will now be available on Disney+ Hotstar. I’m excited to share it with a wider audience.”
The film, which features Kani Kusruti, Divya Prabha, and Chhaya Kadam, is an official Indo-French co-production between Petit Chaos (France) and Chalk & Cheese and Another Birth (India). It tells the story of Prabha, a troubled nurse who receives an unexpected gift from her estranged husband, and Anu, her young roommate seeking intimacy with her boyfriend. A trip to a beach town allows them to confront their desires.
Earlier this year, the film made history by winning the prestigious Grand Prix at the Cannes Film Festival. All We Imagine as Light premiered at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival in the highly-coveted competition section on May 23, becoming the first Indian film in 30 years to feature in the festival’s main segment. The last Indian film to compete was Shaji N Karun’s Swaham in 1994.
In December, the film achieved another significant milestone when Payal Kapadia became the first Indian director to receive a Golden Globe nomination for Best Director. The film also garnered a nomination for Best Motion Picture – Non-English Language.
Speaking about the nominations, Payal said, “I’m deeply honoured by this nomination and grateful to the HFPA for this recognition. This is a celebration of everyone who worked so passionately on the film. To everyone in India, All We Imagine as Light is still in theatres—please go watch it and support us!”
This recognition of All We Imagine as Light marks a monumental achievement for both Kapadia and Indian cinema, placing the film alongside some of the most acclaimed international works of the year.
The Golden Globe Awards, recognizing excellence in film and television, will be streamed live in India on Lionsgate Play starting at 6:30 AM IST on January 6, 2025.
