Hindu community unites against vandalism, calls for investigation into rising anti-Hindu incidents
California [US], March 9 – The BAPS Hindu Temple in Chino Hills, California, has been vandalized with inflammatory messages, just days before a so-called ‘Khalistan referendum’ in Los Angeles. The incident has sparked outrage within the Hindu community in North America, with leaders calling for immediate action against the rising wave of anti-Hindu hate crimes.
The official BAPS Public Affairs page addressed the vandalism on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), emphasizing their resolve to stand against hate.
“In the face of another Mandir desecration, this time in Chino Hills, CA, the Hindu community stands steadfast against hate. Together, we will never let hate take root. Our common humanity and faith will ensure that peace and compassion prevail,” BAPS wrote in a statement.
The Coalition of Hindus of North America (CoHNA) also condemned the attack, pointing out that Hindu temples have increasingly become targets of hate crimes.
“Another Hindu Temple vandalized—this time, the iconic BAPS temple in Chino Hills, CA. It’s just another day in a world where media and academics will insist there is no anti-Hindu hate and that #Hinduphobia is just a construct of our imagination,” CoHNA posted on X.
The organization further linked the incident to a pattern of recent temple attacks, including the 2023 vandalism of BAPS temples in Sacramento and New York, where perpetrators spray-painted anti-Hindu slurs such as “Hindus go back.”
Community leaders and advocacy groups are now demanding a thorough investigation into these targeted attacks, urging authorities to recognize and address Hinduphobia.
With Hindu temples facing repeated attacks in North America, the BAPS community and Hindu advocacy groups reaffirm their commitment to peace, resilience, and interfaith unity, ensuring that such acts of hatred do not go unchallenged.
