Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], March 14– Veteran actor Deb Mukherjee, father of filmmaker Ayan Mukherjee, passed away on Friday. Close friends of the director visited his residence to offer their condolences during this difficult time.
The funeral for Deb Mukherjee will take place at the Pawan Hans Crematorium in Juhu at 4 pm on Friday. Bollywood actress Kajol has already arrived at Ayan Mukherjee’s house to support the grieving family.
Deb Mukherjee, born in Kanpur, was a prominent figure in the Mukherjee-Samarth family, known for its significant contributions to the film industry spanning four generations since the 1930s. His mother, Satidevi, was the sister of legendary figures Ashok Kumar, Anup Kumar, and Kishore Kumar.
He was also the brother of popular actor Joy Mukherjee and filmmaker Shomu Mukherjee, who was married to Bollywood actress Tanuja. His nieces include stars Kajol and Rani Mukerji.
Deb Mukherjee had two marriages, with his daughter Sunita, from his first marriage, being married to director Ashutosh Gowariker. His son, Ayan, is from his second marriage.
Throughout his career, Deb Mukherjee appeared in films such as Sambandh, Adhikar, Zindagi Zindagi, Haiwan, Mai Tulsi Tere Aangan Ki, Karate, Baaton Baaton Mein, Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar, and more.
The funeral is expected to be attended by numerous family members, including Kajol, Ajay Devgn, Rani Mukerji, Tanuja, Tanissha, and Aditya Chopra.
