Varun Dhawan Praises ‘Kesari Chapter 2’ As A “Powerful Film,” Applauds Akshay Kumar And Team

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], April 20: Akshay Kumar’s latest courtroom drama, Kesari Chapter 2, is winning hearts and box office battles since its release earlier this week. The film, based on the untold story of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre and Akshay’s portrayal of legendary advocate C. Sankaran Nair, has been lauded for its gripping narrative and impactful performances.

Adding to the accolades, actor Varun Dhawan took to Instagram Stories on Sunday to share his appreciation for the film. He wrote:

“Such a powerful film! Loved watching it in the theatres. Congratulations @bindraamritpal, #Karan, @ananyapanday, you were very good, @actormaddy, loved you sir, and @akshaykumar, your passion and hard work shine in this. @karanjohar, so happy for you, you’ve done it again,” followed by a hug emoji.

He also gave a shoutout to the film’s music, saying, “@azeemdayani, loved your score.”

Box Office Performance:

Kesari Chapter 2 had a strong start, collecting ₹7.84 crore nett on Day 1, despite a limited release across about 1,000 cinemas. According to trade analyst Taran Adarsh, while the Good Friday holiday didn’t boost collections as much as expected, audience turnout increased through the day — a positive sign.

Adarsh noted:

“Compared to Akshay Kumar’s recent content-driven films — Mission Raniganj (₹2.80 cr), Sarfira (₹2.50 cr), and Khel Khel Mein (₹5.23 cr on Independence Day) — Kesari Chapter 2 has fared significantly better on Day 1.”

The strategy of targeting multiplexes and premium single screens appears to have worked in the film’s favor, with weekend numbers expected to grow based on positive word of mouth.

  • Directed by: Karan Singh Tyagi
  • Produced by: Karan Johar
  • Stars: Akshay Kumar, Ananya Panday, R. Madhavan
