Dehradun (Uttarakhand) [India], May 13: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami expressed pride as the state secured second place in financial performance among small states, according to a recent Financial Express ranking.
CM Dhami credited this achievement to the state’s focused policies, fiscal discipline, and public trust, emphasizing that under the ‘Double Engine Government’ model and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s guidance, Uttarakhand is committed to becoming a model state delivering quality services and development opportunities to all citizens.
“This ranking reflects Uttarakhand’s commitment to transparent governance, disciplined financial management, and people-centric policies,” said Dhami.
Uttarakhand’s strong performance was driven by success in managing fiscal deficits, boosting tax revenue, controlling debt, and enhancing investments in critical sectors such as education, healthcare, and digital infrastructure. The state also made notable improvements in business environment, judicial efficiency, and rural development.
Calling the milestone a “step towards a brighter future,” Dhami reiterated the government’s focus on tourism, digital services, and strengthening the rural economy.
Meanwhile, the Central Government has sanctioned Rs 164.67 crore under the “Scheme for Special Assistance to States for Capital Expenditure” to support various development works across Dehradun and Nainital districts.
Key project allocations include:
- Rs 828.27 lakh for construction of a pond and park in Ramjiwala (Mianwala) under MDDA
- Rs 672.57 lakh for Gaura Devi Park in Defence Colony
- Rs 13,441.85 lakh for a multi-level car parking and office complex at Tehsil Chowk
- Rs 12,560.70 lakh for multi-level car parking in Rishikesh
- Rs 12,150.38 lakh for construction of Aadhat Bazar near Kargi Chowk
- Rs 404.85 lakh for beautification of a water source on Maldevta Road, Raipur
- Rs 1,215.36 lakh for a community building in Garhi Cantt
- Rs 1,241.59 lakh for road and drainage work in Sher Ka Danda, Nainital
- Rs 621.10 lakh for infrastructure improvement inside Nainital city
CM Dhami extended his gratitude to PM Modi and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, acknowledging the Centre’s consistent support for infrastructure development and urban modernization projects in Uttarakhand.
