New Delhi [India], May 13: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh convened a high-level strategic meeting in the national capital on Tuesday with top military leadership, including Defence Secretary, Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Anil Chauhan, Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi, and Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi, to assess the outcomes and next steps following Operation Sindoor.
The review meeting comes a day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s national address, where he reiterated the government’s unwavering stance on terrorism and praised the armed forces for their swift and effective retaliation following the Pahalgam terror attack.
“Every terror organisation now knows the consequence of wiping the sindoor from the foreheads of our daughters and sisters,” PM Modi declared emotionally, referring to the brutal April 22 attack in Pahalgam, where 26 innocent tourists were killed after being asked their religion by terrorists.
Operation Sindoor, launched on May 7, was India’s coordinated military retaliation targeting multiple terror sites across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). According to defence sources, the operation successfully eliminated over 100 terrorists and targeted 11 air bases inside Pakistan, delivering a significant blow to Pakistan’s terror infrastructure.
The Defence Ministry confirmed that the multi-domain strikes—via land, air, and sea—were executed with calibrated precision to ensure minimal civilian casualties, while significantly degrading the operational capabilities of terror networks.
PM Modi, in his speech, dedicated the success of the mission to the mothers, sisters, and daughters of India, saluting the armed forces, intelligence community, and scientists for their contributions.
“The country has witnessed both the capability and the patience of our forces. Their bravery is a testament to our national resolve,” he said.
As diplomatic tensions continue and political debate grows over the ceasefire and US involvement, today’s strategic meeting signals India’s preparedness to take further action if provoked, while maintaining vigilance in a post-operation phase.
