US VP JD Vance Condemns Pahalgam Attack, Assures Full Support To India

United States Vice President JD Vance, currently on a four-day official visit to India, strongly condemned the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir, calling it a “terrible act of terror” and assured all possible assistance to the Indian government.

Speaking to the media in New Delhi on Wednesday, Vance said:

“I want to issue our condolences to the people of Kashmir who were affected by this terrible terrorist attack… We’re providing whatever assistance and help we can provide to the government and to the people of India.”

He also mentioned his upcoming conversation with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, following US President Donald Trump’s earlier call with PM Modi on Tuesday night.

“The President’s already spoken with Prime Minister Modi. I believe I’ll be speaking with him later this afternoon,” Vance added.

In a heartfelt post on X, Vance wrote:

“Usha and I extend our condolences to the victims of the devastating terrorist attack in Pahalgam. Over the past few days, we have been overcome with the beauty of this country and its people. Our thoughts and prayers are with them as they mourn this horrific attack.”

Senior US Leaders Rally Behind India

  • President Donald Trump condemned the attack as an “Islamist terror attack” and assured India of America’s unwavering support.
  • PM Modi, in response, thanked Trump and reaffirmed India’s resolve to bring perpetrators and their backers to justice.
  • US Secretary of State Marco Rubio posted: “The United States stands with India.”
  • National Security Advisor Mike Waltz called it a “terrible tragedy” and echoed support for India’s anti-terror operations.

🔒 Ground Reality in Kashmir

Security operations intensified across the valley on Wednesday to track down the attackers behind one of the deadliest terror attacks since the abrogation of Article 370 in 2019. The usually vibrant tourist hub of Pahalgam appeared deserted, with multiple areas under security lockdown.
Several local organisations have also called for a Jammu bandh in protest and mourning.
