US Vice President JD Vance, President Trump Stand With India After Pahalgam Terror Attack: “All Assistance Available”

In a powerful gesture of solidarity, US Vice President JD Vance on Wednesday personally called Prime Minister Narendra Modi and condemned the Pahalgam terror attack, describing it as a “dastardly act” against innocent civilians. He expressed deep condolences and reiterated that the United States stands shoulder to shoulder with India in its fight against terrorism.

“The United States is ready to provide all assistance in the joint fight against terrorism,” said Randhir Jaiswal, spokesperson for India’s Ministry of External Affairs, quoting the conversation.

White House Engagement

Vice President Vance, currently on a state visit to India with Second Lady Usha Vance and their children, described the tragedy as “a terrible terrorist attack” while speaking to reporters. Referring to Kashmir, he noted:

“Usha and I extend our condolences to the victims… We’ve been overcome with the beauty of this country and its people. Our thoughts and prayers are with them as they mourn this horrific attack.”

His remarks were echoed by US President Donald Trump, who also called PM Modi late Tuesday night to offer support. In a statement, Trump called it an “Islamist terror attack” and assured full backing from the United States.

“We stand with India in its fight against terrorism and will offer all possible support,” Trump reportedly told PM Modi.

Top US Officials Speak Out

  • US Secretary of State Marco Rubio posted on X: “The United States stands with India.”
  • National Security Advisor Mike Waltz called the incident a “terrible tragedy”, aligning with President Trump’s remarks.

Diplomatic Highlights

The call between Modi and Vance took place shortly after PM Modi cut short his official visit to Saudi Arabia following the attack. During the bilateral Strategic Partnership Council meeting in Riyadh, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman also condemned the attack and extended condolences.

Ongoing Security & Diplomatic Coordination

Meanwhile, security operations are continuing in the Kashmir Valley, with intensified search efforts to apprehend those responsible. The Pahalgam attack, one of the deadliest since the abrogation of Article 370 in 2019, has drawn global attention and condemnation.

A Jammu bandh has been called by several groups, and tourism in the Valley has sharply declined, with emergency flights arranged for tourist evacuations.
