Trump Warns Iran To Halt Houthi Support, Vows Their ‘Annihilation’ Amid Escalating Tensions

US President Donald Trump on Wednesday issued a stark warning to Iran, demanding that it immediately stop supplying the Houthis in Yemen. Trump stated that without Tehran’s support, the Houthis would be defeated quickly, and he vowed their complete “annihilation” as tensions in the Middle East continue to escalate.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump claimed that while Iran had reduced its military and logistical support to the Houthis, it was still sending large quantities of supplies to the rebel group.

“Reports are coming in that while Iran has lessened its intensity on Military Equipment and General Support to the Houthis, they are still sending large levels of Supplies. Iran must stop the sending of these Supplies IMMEDIATELY. Let the Houthis fight it out themselves. Either way, they lose, but this way they lose quickly.”

Trump further described the Houthis as “barbaric” and warned that US-led military operations would inflict even more destruction on them.

“Tremendous damage has been inflicted upon the Houthi barbarians, and watch how it will get progressively worse—It’s not even a fair fight and never will be. They will be annihilated!”

US Holds Iran Responsible for Houthi Attacks

As US airstrikes on Yemen intensify, Trump reaffirmed that Tehran would be held accountable for any Houthi-led attacks. He dismissed Iran’s claims that the Houthis operate independently, further escalating diplomatic tensions.

Iran’s Response: Growing Nuclear Concerns

Trump’s threats against Iran have reignited discussions in Tehran about abandoning nuclear non-proliferation policies, according to a report by Al Jazeera.

Senior White House officials have reiterated that Iran must dismantle its nuclear program entirely, ceasing all uranium enrichment activities—even at low levels.

On Tuesday, Iranian media outlets suggested that Trump’s aggressive stance might push more countries to consider nuclear weapons for their own security.

Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei also weighed in on the issue, reaffirming that Tehran is not seeking nuclear weapons—but asserted that the US could not stop Iran if it decided to build them.

“If we wanted to make nuclear weapons, America could not stop us. If we do not have nuclear weapons and are not pursuing them, it is because we do not want it,” Khamenei said.

Regional Tensions on the Rise

Trump’s latest remarks come amid a wider escalation in US-Iran tensions, with concerns that continued military action in Yemen could spark a larger regional conflict.

As the US presses Iran to halt its support for the Houthis, Tehran’s nuclear policy is once again under global scrutiny, raising fears of a potential shift in Iran’s long-standing position on nuclear weapons.
