‘Tiranga Shaurya Samman Yatra’ Launched Nationwide To Honour Armed Forces And Celebrate Operation Sindoor

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami led the ‘Tiranga Shaurya Samman Yatra’ in Dehradun on Wednesday morning, as part of a nationwide campaign to honour the Indian Armed Forces.

Launched by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday, the Tiranga Yatra aims to pay tribute to the valour and sacrifice of Indian soldiers and inform the public about the recent success of Operation Sindoor.

In the early hours of May 7, the Indian Armed Forces carried out precision strikes on nine terror hideouts located deep inside Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK) in retaliation to the Pahalgam terror attack. The mission was code-named ‘Operation Sindoor’.

The Tiranga Yatra, which began on May 14, will run till May 23, involving participation from senior leaders, ex-servicemen, social workers, and members of civil society.

In Odisha, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi flagged off the yatra in Bhubaneswar, joined by BJP state president Manmohan Samal and other party leaders.

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, along with BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh, Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva, and others participated in the yatra in Delhi. The capital’s campaign commenced at Kartavya Path with a 108-foot-tall national flag and is scheduled to conclude at the National War Memorial. The march witnessed the participation of citizens, NGOs, RWAs, religious leaders, and social organisations.

According to BJP sources, the party plans to ensure wide-scale public engagement, with ex-servicemen and public figures leading the marches in different states. The initiative is being positioned not just as a political drive but as a people’s movement celebrating unity, patriotism, and national pride.

In preparation for the campaign, BJP President JP Nadda held a strategic meeting on May 12 with party general secretaries at the BJP headquarters. Senior leaders including Sambit Patra, Vinod Tawde, and Tarun Chugh have been tasked with overseeing coordination at regional levels.

The BJP also plans to conduct press conferences across India and engage social media influencers to digitally amplify the message and connect with younger demographics.
