Patna (Bihar) [India], May 19: With the Bihar Assembly elections approaching, political tensions are on the rise as Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav launched a scathing attack on the BJP and JD(U), accusing both parties of being disconnected from the needs of the people of Bihar.
“BJP and JDU have nothing to do with Bihar and Biharis. They don’t care about education, healthcare, employment, irrigation, or development. Their only agenda is to abuse Lalu Prasad Yadav and me day and night on TV. It’s like there’s a competition in the Bihar government to target us,” Tejashwi told reporters in Patna.
Meanwhile, Union Minister and Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) chief Chirag Paswan dismissed speculation over any leadership changes, reaffirming support for Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
“There’s no vacancy for the CM post in Bihar. After the elections, under PM Modi’s leadership and CM Nitish Kumar’s vision, the NDA will form a strong government in Bihar,” Paswan said while speaking in Darbhanga.
In a notable political shift, former Union Minister RCP Singh has merged his party, Aap Sabki Awaz (ASA), with Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraaj Party. Singh had broken away from JD(U) in 2023 to join the BJP, later forming ASA in 2024 to contest the upcoming elections.
With Bihar’s Assembly polls expected in October-November 2025, the political landscape is rapidly evolving. The NDA alliance—comprising BJP, JD(U), and LJP—is preparing to defend its hold on power, while the INDIA bloc readies to challenge the status quo in a high-stakes electoral battle.
