Kuldeep and Chakravarthy shine as India puts up a disciplined bowling display in Dubai
Dubai, March 9, 2025 – India’s spin attack delivered a masterclass in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 final, restricting New Zealand to 251/7 in 50 overs at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. Kuldeep Yadav (2/40) and Varun Chakravarthy (2/45) led the charge, while Ravindra Jadeja and Mohammed Shami chipped in with one wicket each.
“The spinners adapted well to the conditions and kept the pressure on. We knew restricting them was key, and we executed our plans well,” Kuldeep said after the innings.
Despite losing wickets at regular intervals, New Zealand fought back in the latter half, thanks to Daryl Mitchell’s gritty 63 and Michael Bracewell’s resilient 53, ensuring they posted a competitive total.
With India’s formidable batting lineup—led by Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Shubman Gill—set to chase 252, the stage is set for a thrilling second innings. Can India’s batting firepower seal the Champions Trophy glory, or will New Zealand’s bowlers script a twist in the tale?
