New Delhi, June 5: In a chilling incident inside the Saket Court lockup, an undertrial prisoner named Aman was murdered by two fellow inmates, Delhi Police confirmed on Thursday.
The accused, identified as Jitender and Jaidev, reportedly attacked Aman due to a personal vendetta stemming from a violent altercation in 2024, when the trio were not yet in custody.
“Jitender and Aman had a long-standing enmity. Aman had previously attacked Jitender and his brother with a knife,” the police said in a statement.
The Fatal Attack
According to the police, the murder took place inside Kharja No. 5 of the Saket lockup where several undertrial prisoners, including Aman, were awaiting court proceedings.
“The incident occurred on June 5 when Aman was brought to court. He was assaulted by Jitender and Jaidev inside the holding area,” the statement said.
The three were undertrial prisoners and confined in the same area when the fatal assault happened. The police are now investigating security lapses and how weapons or means to carry out the murder may have reached the lockup.
