Washington (US), February 15: Action star Scott Adkins and Oscar-nominated actor Djimon Hounsou are set to star in the upcoming action-thriller One Last Fight. Brilliant Pictures, based in London and Rome, has announced the film and secured worldwide sales rights, with plans to launch the project at the European Film Market in Berlin, as reported by Variety.
One Last Fight follows the story of Marcus (Adkins), a former Muay Thai champion who now works as an instructor, alongside his wife, Ammara, running a training camp in Bangkok. The couple is grieving the loss of their child when Marcus discovers that Ammara’s younger brother, Chet, a promising Muay Thai boxer, is in debt to a local crime lord. To pay off the debt, Chet is forced into participating in a series of brutal underground fights orchestrated by the dangerous Nigerian mobster Tiga (Hounsou).
In a bid to help Chet escape his predicament, Marcus is coerced by Tiga into taking Chet’s place in the illegal battle arena, plunging Marcus and his family into a brutal world of violence where the stakes are higher than they could have ever imagined.
Directed by Isaac Florentine, known for Acts of Vengeance, the film is based on a screenplay by Karim Cheriguene and Yvan Gauthier. Rafael Primorac and Yvan Gauthier are producing the project, with Brilliant Pictures’ Sean O’Kelly and Marc Bikindou serving as executive producers.
Producer Rafael Primorac expressed his excitement about the collaboration: “We are excited to be working with Scott and Djimon alongside Isaac—arguably world leaders in this genre. Thailand provides an authentic backdrop, and with Isaac at the helm, this is set to be a slick, edge-of-your-seat action thriller that will satisfy audiences worldwide.”
Yvan Gauthier added, “Scott, Djimon, and Isaac are the perfect combo to bring our ambitious story to life. The goal here is to elevate the martial arts movie genre and bring a strong and emotional human aspect to it by touching on topics that resonate with a very large audience.”
