The 2025 Grammy Awards saw a significant milestone for singer and actor Sabrina Carpenter, who won her first-ever Grammy for Best Pop Vocal Album for Short n’ Sweet on Sunday (Monday morning in India).
“I’m still out of breath from the performance,” Carpenter exclaimed as she began her acceptance speech. Keeping it “short and sweet,” she thanked her family and producers for their support.
Carpenter was nominated in a competitive category alongside major artists like Billie Eilish, Ariana Grande, and Taylor Swift. She previously served as the opening act for Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour, performing across Latin America, Asia, and Australia.
Before receiving her Grammy, Carpenter delivered an energetic and theatrical performance, featuring her hit songs Espresso and Please Please Please. The performance was marked by elaborate dance routines and multiple outfit changes. Carpenter appeared on stage at the start of her set on a grand white staircase, dressed in a black-and-white suit while holding a sparkly baton. In a playful gag, she dropped the baton and fumbled her lyrics, before removing her suit to reveal a stunning blue bejewelled corset. She ended the performance with a tap dance routine, wowing the audience.
The 2025 Grammy Awards were hosted by Trevor Noah for the fifth consecutive year at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles. The event also raised funds to support wildfire relief efforts in L.A.
Beyoncé led the nominations with 11 nods, while Kendrick Lamar, Charli XCX, and Billie Eilish each had seven. Other top nominees included Taylor Swift, Carpenter, and Chappell Roan.
Presenters for the night included Swift, Will Smith, Olivia Rodrigo, Cardi B, Queen Latifah, and SZA.
For music lovers in India, the event will be available for live streaming on Disney+ Hotstar on Monday, February 3, from 6:30 AM to 10:00 AM.
