Historic Turnout At Mahakumbh 2025 As Devotees Flock For Holy Dip At Triveni Sangam

Prayagraj (Uttar Pradesh) [India]: The sacred confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati rivers at Prayagraj is witnessing an extraordinary surge of faith as sages, saints, Kalpvasis, and millions of pilgrims participate in the ongoing Mahakumbh.

On the auspicious occasion of Basant Panchami’s Amrit Snan, the total number of devotees who have taken a holy dip since the beginning of Mahakumbh has surpassed 350 million (35 crores), according to an official statement from the administration.

By 8 AM on Monday alone, 6.2 million devotees had bathed at Triveni Sangam, setting a historic record. With 23 days remaining, the total number of pilgrims is expected to cross 500 million.

Faith and devotion remain steadfast in Prayagraj, with millions of visitors from across India and the world arriving daily to seek divine blessings through the holy dip.

On Sunday, February 2, nearly 12 million devotees participated in the sacred ritual, pushing the overall count close to 350 million, which was officially surpassed the next morning. Among them were 1 million Kalpvasis, saints, and devotees from different parts of the globe.

A closer analysis of attendance figures shows that the highest turnout was recorded on Mauni Amavasya, with 80 million devotees bathing at the Sangam. This was followed by 35 million on Makar Sankranti, over 20 million on January 30 and February 1, and 17 million on Paush Purnima.

Several prominent figures have also taken part in the holy dip, including Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, accompanied by his cabinet.

Other dignitaries who visited the Sangam include Governor Anandiben Patel, Rajasthan CM Bhajan Lal, Union Ministers Gajendra Singh Shekhawat and Arjun Ram Meghwal, BJP MP Sudhanshu Trivedi, Rajya Sabha MP Sudha Murthy, Assam Assembly Speaker Biswajit Daimary, and Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav.

Celebrities from Bollywood and the sports industry have also participated, including actors Hema Malini, Anupam Kher, Bhagyashree, and Milind Soman, as well as poet Kumar Vishwas, cricketer Suresh Raina, wrestler Khali, choreographer Remo D’Souza, and Mahamandaleshwar of Kinnar Akhara, Mamta Kulkarni.

As the Mahakumbh progresses, the overwhelming display of faith and devotion reaffirms the eternal spiritual significance of this grand event.

The Maha Kumbh 2025, which began on January 13, will continue until February 26. With millions of devotees from India and around the world already in attendance, the event is poised to set new records in participation and spiritual observance.
