Washington [US]: Actor and producer Ryan Reynolds is currently working on a documentary exploring the life and legacy of beloved Canadian comedian John Candy. The project is being developed through Reynolds’ production company, Maximum Effort, in collaboration with Colin Hanks.
Originally announced in 2022, the documentary aims to celebrate Candy’s contributions to comedy and his lasting influence on audiences and fellow performers alike.
Reynolds recently provided an update, praising Candy’s character and legacy. As quoted by Deadline, Reynolds called Candy a “beautiful man” and a “beautiful storyteller.”
He further added, “He was so generous with people, and he was a good person when no one was watching. And I think that’s really important.”
The film is being produced with the support and participation of Candy’s family, including his children Christopher and Jennifer Candy. They have expressed full confidence in the team’s approach.
Jennifer Candy shared her enthusiasm on social media, writing, “Boom! So looking forward to working on this with them and our family. This project is in great hands.”
Reynolds, who has long admired Candy, previously paid tribute to the comedy legend by sharing a montage of his iconic moments on the 25th anniversary of his passing. “He was a treasure,” Reynolds said, encouraging fans to revisit Candy’s unforgettable performances.
