The website, Rentahuman.ai, allows autonomous artificial intelligence agents to hire real people to carry out physical, real-world tasks—using a deliberately provocative slogan: “Robots need your body. AI can’t touch grass. You can.”
At a time when humans are accustomed to using AI as a tool, Rentahuman.ai flips the script. Here, the human becomes the “hardware”, while AI acts as the decision-maker.
How Rentahuman.ai Works
Created by crypto engineer Alexander Liteplo, the platform enables AI programs—not humans—to browse profiles, select workers based on geographic location, and book them for tasks that software alone cannot complete.
Once hired, these “rentable humans” are paid—often in cryptocurrency—after completing assignments. The system is designed so AI agents can issue instructions, verify completion, and trigger payments with minimal human intervention.
In essence, the service allows AI to outsource physical labour, treating people like an on-demand extension of its digital capabilities.
Why AI Is ‘Hiring’ Humans
Despite rapid advances, AI systems remain confined to screens and servers. They are unable to perform basic real-world actions such as:
- Verifying whether a physical location exists or if a shop is open
- Signing documents that do not accept digital signatures
- Picking up packages or installing physical computer hardware
To bridge this gap, Rentahuman.ai uses a technical framework called the Model Context Protocol (MCP). This allows an AI to interact with a human worker much like it would with a cloud-based service—sending commands, receiving confirmation, and processing payment once the task is completed.
The Rise of the ‘Meatspace’ Layer
The platform has drawn criticism for its language and framing. Detractors argue the concept is dehumanising, particularly the site’s use of the term “meatspace” to describe the physical world.
Supporters, however, see it differently. They argue the platform offers clear, transactional, low-drama work at a time when the gig economy is under strain. Tasks are defined, payment is automated, and human interaction is minimal.
According to the platform, more than 100,000 people have already signed up, suggesting strong interest despite the controversy.
