RJD MP Manoj Jha Calls For Nationwide SOPs After Bengaluru Stampede; Cop Protests Suspensions

Patna (Bihar) [India], June 9: In the wake of recent stampedes across the country, RJD MP Manoj Kumar Jha has called for strict national-level crowd control protocols and the immediate development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for public events.

Jha emphasized the growing risks posed by overcrowding at public places, stating:
“Be it Bengaluru, Prayagraj, railway stations, or religious gatherings, SOPs must be created and enforced. If an organisation or authority lacks proper crowd management planning, they should not be allowed to host such events.”

His remarks follow the tragic stampede near Bengaluru’s Chinnaswamy Stadium during RCB’s IPL victory celebrations, which claimed 11 lives and injured many others.

In a related development, Head Constable Narasimharaju of Madiwala Police Station in Bengaluru staged a solo protest against the Karnataka Government’s decision to suspend the city’s Police Commissioner and other top officials after the incident.

Speaking to ANI in a telephonic interview, the officer said,
“This was unexpected. I was deeply emotional after the deaths near the stadium. Suspending senior officials brings down the morale of the police department. Transfers can be a corrective measure, but suspensions hurt the system.”

Narasimharaju, who holds MA and B.Ed degrees and hails from Pavagada, now fears disciplinary action for his protest. He lives with his mother and family and expressed concern over how the government might respond.

The incident has reignited the debate around accountability, crowd management preparedness, and institutional support for frontline personnel in India.
