Mallikarjun Kharge, Akhilesh Yadav Slam Modi Government Over 11-Year Performance

Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], June 09: As the BJP marks 11 years of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, opposition leaders have launched sharp critiques questioning the government’s performance on key issues like education, employment, inflation, and institutional integrity.

Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav on Monday criticised both the Central and Uttar Pradesh BJP governments, questioning their progress over the past 20 years—considering the BJP’s nearly 11 years at the Centre and 9 in Uttar Pradesh.

“If you add both, it comes to 20 years. The government must present a full report card—what progress has been made in education, employment, and economic activity?” Yadav said while speaking to reporters in Lucknow.

He pointed to a lack of coordination between the state and central administrations, particularly in the implementation of ongoing schemes.

“Even villages adopted under government schemes haven’t seen real change. If the Prime Minister is an MP from Uttar Pradesh, the people here will ask tough questions,” he added.

Yadav also alleged that BJP leaders are working against each other, and criticised the state for failing to address rising unemployment and inflation.

Kharge’s Scathing Remarks on Democracy and Institutions

Meanwhile, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge echoed similar sentiments, claiming that the 11-year BJP rule under Modi has damaged India’s democracy, economy, and social unity.

In a post on X, Kharge accused the Modi-led government of undermining constitutional institutions and weakening the country’s federal structure.

“In the last 11 years, the Modi government has caused severe damage to Indian democracy, economy and social fabric. BJP-RSS weakened every constitutional institution and attacked their autonomy,” Kharge wrote.

He further alleged that the ruling party has indulged in toppling elected governments, ignored state rights, and pushed a one-party rule agenda.

As the BJP celebrates over a decade in power, opposition parties appear united in questioning the government’s record and demanding accountability for its long-standing governance
