Retired Punjab ADGP Praises Indian Army’s Anti-Terror Strikes as Tensions with Pakistan Escalate

Patiala (Punjab) [India]: Amid escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, retired Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Gurinder Singh Dhillon on Thursday lauded the Indian Armed Forces for their decisive response to cross-border terrorism, calling the recent strikes on terror camps in Pakistan and PoJK “commendable.”

Dhillon stated, “There was only one effective way to deal with cross-border terrorism — to destroy the sites where terrorists are trained. India targeted nine such sites, and it was a great action. Pakistan is desperately trying to retaliate, but our forces are well-prepared.”

He reassured residents of border areas, urging them not to panic and to support the security forces. “Pakistan doesn’t have the strength to pose a serious threat. Our actions are against terrorism, not civilians. Their retaliation only confirms that they harbor and support terrorism,” he added.

In parallel developments, Union Home Minister Amit Shah chaired a high-level security meeting in Delhi to assess border and airport protection. Attendees included top officials from the Border Security Force (BSF), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), and senior Ministry of Home Affairs officers.

The Punjab government has also ramped up emergency preparedness. According to a statement from the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), a comprehensive review of emergency services in border districts is underway. Ten cabinet ministers are set to visit these areas to inspect hospitals, fire stations, ration supplies, and other critical services.

The CMO listed specific assignments:

  • Gurdaspur: Ministers Lal Chand Kataruchakk and Dr. Ravjot Singh
  • Amritsar: Ministers Kuldeep Dhaliwal and Mohinder Bhagat

In Amritsar, the District Public Relations Officer (DPRO) issued safety guidelines urging residents to remain indoors, turn off lights, and close curtains.
“A siren will blow now, and we’ll notify again once the situation is clear. Our forces are working around the clock, and citizens’ cooperation is vital,” the DPRO said.

These actions follow an intense week of military engagement. Defence sources reported that the Indian Army downed two Pakistani drones in the Naushera sector of Jammu and Kashmir, amid heavy artillery exchanges along the Line of Control (LoC).

The situation remains tense as both countries continue to engage in retaliatory actions following India’s Operation Sindoor, a large-scale counter-terror mission targeting nine terror infrastructure sites in response to the April 22 Pahalgam terrorist attack.
