The long-running disagreement between rap stars Cardi B and Nicki Minaj has turned into a nasty, multi-day fight on social media, with very personal comments aimed at family members, spouses, and even the companies who work with the artists. The furious internet drama has been going on for more than 58 hours and doesn’t look like it’s going to stop anytime soon.
The Beef Gets Worse: From Sales Figures to Personal Attacks
Nicki Minaj’s apparent mocking of Cardi B’s latest album sales numbers, “Am I the Drama?” which came out on September 19th, is said to have sparked the current, very public chapter of the dispute. Cardi B quickly replied, saying that the sales numbers that were reported were too high.
The competition swiftly turned into a bombardment of very personal and contentious attacks.
The two rappers have gone all out, throwing insults that have hurt everyone:
Nicki Minaj insulted Cardi B’s oldest daughter, Kulture, by calling her “ugly, a roach, and a monkey.” She also told Cardi B to end her current pregnancy with her new boyfriend, Stefon Diggs.
Counter-Attacks on Family: Cardi B hit back hard, claiming that Nicki Minaj’s son doesn’t talk because she took Percocet while she was pregnant.
Walmart and DoorDash are two companies that have been caught in the crossfire.
On Wednesday, Nicki Minaj brought two big corporate brands—Walmart and DoorDash—into the continuing conflict. Both of these companies have recently worked with Cardi B on promotions.
Minaj utilized X (previously Twitter) to openly challenge the firms’ ties to her adversary by writing:
“Is it okay for Walmart and DoorDash to let Barney B say she would get a transgender person to r*** her man? Men who are high? Making fun of kids for years? Wanting to die? Shrump says, “D. E. BYE,”
The explicit tweet tries to put pressure on the companies by bringing up Cardi B’s very controversial and alleged past comments.
Cardi B’s Business Connections:
DoorDash: Cardi B worked with the food delivery service to promote her album by making “The Cardi Bodega.”
Walmart and Wing: She also worked with Walmart and the drone delivery service Wing to send her music by drone.
The main fight between Cardi B and Nicki Minaj started in 2017 and was motivated by competition for chart supremacy and rivalry in the music business. It famously ended in a fight at the 2018 Harper’s Bazaar event.
