Rajasthan Border Districts To Conduct Mock Drill on May 29 Amid Operation Sindoor Preparedness

New Delhi [India], May 28: large-scale mock drill will be conducted on May 29 across four border districts of RajasthanJaisalmer, Barmer, Sri Ganganagar, and Bikaner—as part of enhanced emergency preparedness measures, announced Tina Dabi, District Collector of Barmer.

The drill will feature air raid sirens and tests of emergency response systems, simulating wartime scenarios to assess civilian and defence coordination. Civil defence authorities have already begun preparations, dispatching detailed instructions to all participating districts. Special focus has been placed on Jaisalmer, which shares an international border with Pakistan.

Additional District Collector Paras Ram Tok stated that while the exact time and locations in Jaisalmer are still being finalised, a coordination meeting is scheduled to finalise the logistical details.

This upcoming drill follows a similar statewide exercise on May 7, where 28 cities across Rajasthan practiced blackout protocols and air raid alerts in response to Operation Sindoor—a recent military initiative by the Indian armed forces.

Operation Sindoor was launched following the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which resulted in 26 deaths, including that of a Nepalese national. The operation marked India’s deepest airstrike into Pakistani territory since 1971, targeting terror infrastructure in both Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK).

During a media briefing, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, Colonel Sofiya Qureshi, and Wing Commander Vyomika Singh explained that Operation Sindoor was intended to bring justice to the victims of the Pahalgam attack and dismantle terror networks threatening India’s sovereignty.

As tensions remain elevated, these drills aim to ensure that border regions remain vigilant and prepared for any potential escalation, reinforcing civilian readiness and defence synergy.
