Guna-Bengaluru Direct Train Approved After Scindia’s Push, Set To Benefit Thousands Of Youth From MP

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh) [India], May 28: In a major boost for railway connectivity between Madhya Pradesh and Karnataka, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has approved the operation of a direct train between Guna and Bengaluru, following persistent efforts by Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia.

The new service, train number 11085/11086, will run between Sir M. Visvesvaraya Terminal, Bengaluru and Gwalior, via Guna, offering a crucial direct route for passengers from central India to the country’s IT capital.

Scindia Pushes for Youth Working in Bengaluru

Scindia, who represents Guna in Parliament, had written to the Railway Minister highlighting the travel struggles of youth from Guna, Ashoknagar, and Shivpuri, many of whom work in Bengaluru’s IT and technical sectors. He noted that around 25% of degree-holding youth from his constituency are employed in the southern tech hub.

In the absence of a direct connection, these passengers were forced to travel to Bina, Bhopal, or Gwalior to catch trains to Bengaluru, adding 8–10 hours to their journey.

In his letter to Vaishnaw, Scindia stressed the lack of rail connectivity for the 40 lakh-strong population of the Gwalior-Chambal region and urged for the creation of a direct service.

Official Approval Granted

Responding to Scindia’s plea, Railway Minister Vaishnaw issued an approval letter confirming the launch of the new train:

“You will be happy to know that train number 11085/11086 has been approved to operate from Sir M. Visvesvaraya Terminal, Bengaluru to Gwalior via Guna.”

The train is expected to commence operations soon, significantly reducing travel time and enhancing employment-related mobility between Madhya Pradesh and Bengaluru.

Scindia Expresses Gratitude

Sharing the letter on X, Jyotiraditya Scindia thanked the Ministry of Railways for their swift action:

“Heartfelt thanks to the Ministry of Railways for approving the operation of a new train from Guna to Bengaluru on my special request. Passengers of the Guna region, especially the youth working in Bengaluru, will soon be able to avail this rail facility.”

Regional Impact

The new train will serve a long-standing demand and greatly benefit:

  • Educated youth commuting for work
  • Families and professionals seeking direct travel to the South
  • Students studying in Bengaluru

It also marks a strategic connectivity upgrade for districts like Guna, Ashoknagar, and Shivpuri, linking them directly with a major urban and economic centre.

The exact start date and schedule of the new train service are expected to be announced soon by Indian Railways.
