Priyanka Gandhi Slams UP Government Over Dalit Girl’s Murder In Ayodhya

Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi on Sunday strongly condemned the BJP-led Uttar Pradesh government following the brutal murder of a Dalit girl in Ayodhya. She accused the state government of failing to protect marginalized communities, stating that under the “BJP’s Jungle Raj,” the voices of Dalits, tribals, and the poor go unheard.

“The kind of barbarism that was meted out to a Dalit girl who had gone to listen to the Bhagwat Katha in Ayodhya would send shivers down the spine of any human being. Such cruel incidents shame the entire humanity,” she wrote in a post on X (formerly Twitter).

Priyanka Gandhi further alleged police negligence, emphasizing that the girl had been missing for three days, but authorities took no action.

“The UP government has become synonymous with atrocities on Dalits. I demand strict action against those guilty of this crime, as well as the responsible policemen and officers,” she added.

Meanwhile, Samajwadi Party MP Awadhesh Prasad broke down in tears during a press conference while condemning the horrific crime.

Prasad, visibly emotional, called the incident “extremely sad and inhuman” and declared that he would resign from the Lok Sabha if justice was not served.

Police Investigation Underway

The Uttar Pradesh Police confirmed that the girl’s unclothed body was found in a field on February 3 after she had gone missing on January 31.

Ayodhya SSP Raj Karan Nayyar told media:
“On January 31, a missing complaint was filed after the girl, who had been sleeping alongside her sister, was found missing in the morning. Two police teams were immediately formed to search for her.”

Upon discovery of her body, forensic teams were deployed to gather evidence.

“Prima facie, it appears that the murder took place elsewhere, and the body was dumped in the field,” the SSP added.

Authorities have detained one suspect for questioning and formed three special teams to fast-track the investigation.

“The case will be cracked soon, and the guilty will face the strictest punishment through a fast-track court,” Nayyar assured.
