Zelenskyy Condemns Russia’s Barrage Of Attacks, Urges Global Action

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has condemned Russia’s latest wave of airstrikes, claiming that nearly 50 missiles, 660 attack drones, and 760 guided aerial bombs targeted Ukrainian cities and communities over the past week.

Stressing that Russia will “not stop on its own,” Zelenskyy urged the international community to intervene and strengthen Ukraine’s defense capabilities.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), he wrote:

“Every day, Russia attacks Ukraine with drones, missiles, and aerial bombs. This week alone, there have been hundreds of strikes on our cities and communities—nearly 50 missiles, around 660 attack drones, and more than 760 guided aerial bombs launched by the enemy against our people.”

He further emphasized the urgent need for air defense systems, long-range weapons, and increased sanctions pressure against Moscow.

Zelenskyy Accuses Russia of Attacking Its Own Civilians

Zelenskyy also accused Russia of bombing its own civilians in the Kursk region, alleging that a Russian aerial bomb struck a boarding school while civilians were preparing to evacuate.

“This is how Russia wages war—Sudzha, Kursk region, Russian territory, a boarding school with civilians preparing to evacuate. A Russian aerial bomb. They destroyed the building even though dozens of civilians were there,” Zelenskyy wrote on X.

He likened this attack to Russia’s past military actions in Chechnya and Syria, stating that the Russian military employs similar “brutal tactics” even against its own people.

Deadly Strikes in Ukraine

Meanwhile, Russia intensified its air assault on Ukraine, launching a massive wave of drones and missiles on Saturday.

According to Al Jazeera, at least 12 people were killed in the latest strikes. Ukraine’s air force claimed to have shot down 56 drones and redirected 61.

A missile strike in Poltava hit a residential building, killing eight people, including a child, and injuring 17, Ukraine’s Emergency Services reported.
