Padma Shri Awards 2025: Key Recipients Announced Ahead Of Republic Day Celebrations

New Delhi [India]: On the eve of India’s 76th Republic Day, the central government has announced the recipients for the prestigious Padma Shri Awards 2025. These awards are among the country’s highest civilian honors, conferred in three categories: Padma Shri, Padma Bhushan, and Padma Vibhushan.

The Padma Shri, the fourth-highest civilian award after Bharat Ratna, Padma Vibhushan, and Padma Bhushan, is given in various disciplines, including art, social work, public affairs, science and engineering, trade and industry, medicine, and literature.

Notable Padma Shri Awardees:

  • Dr. Neerja Bhatla (Delhi) – A distinguished gynecologist recognized for her work in cervical cancer detection, prevention, and management.
  • Bhim Singh Bhavesh (Bihar) – A social worker honored for his tireless efforts for the upliftment of the marginalized Musahar community through his foundation, Nayee Asha, for the past 22 years.
  • P Datchanamoorthy – A renowned Thavil instrumentalist with over five decades of contribution to South Indian classical music.
  • L Hangthing (Nagaland) – A fruit farmer recognized for over 30 years of expertise in cultivating non-native fruits in the region.

Republic Day Celebrations:

  • Date: January 26
  • Event Highlights: The Republic Day Parade will kick off with Prime Minister Narendra Modi paying tribute at the National War Memorial. The President will arrive at Kartavya Path in a ceremonial buggy and take the salute during the march past. The parade will feature units from the Armed Forces, Para Military Forces, NCC, and NSS.A unique cultural performance will precede the march past, featuring 300 cultural artists showcasing musical instruments from various regions of India. Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, the Chief Guest, will participate in the parade, marking the first-ever Indonesian marching and band contingent at a national day parade abroad.Additionally, for the first time, a Tri-services tableau will roll down Kartavya Path, emphasizing jointness and integration among the armed forces.

The grand celebration promises a spectacle of unity and culture, with over 5000 artists performing more than 45 different dance forms from across India.
