Washington [US]: Writer, producer, and director Michael Notarile is set to craft the script for Bune, a dark comedy inspired by the true story of David Bunevacz, a conman entangled in moral corruption and excess, according to Deadline.
About the Project
- Bune follows the rise and fall of David Bunevacz, a man obsessed with achieving the American Dream. Leveraging California’s newly legalized cannabis market, Bune creates a multi-million-dollar empire to sustain a luxurious lifestyle for his family. However, his empire collapses under the weight of greed, corruption, and scrutiny.
- The project is produced by Steve Barnett, Alan Powell, and Vicky Patel under Monarch, with Mark Ross (Lincoln Road Films) and Elizabeth Yuja-Barnett also attached as producers.
Michael Notarile’s Contributions
- Notarile, known for his darkly comedic storytelling, will bring his expertise to Bune. His debut feature script, The Mother, gained significant recognition when it was named to the 2019 Black List.
- His television portfolio includes writing and co-executive producing for an upcoming Showtime series, as well as contributions to The Cleaning Lady, The Resident, and WWE Monday Night RAW.
- Notarile has also developed pilots for Amazon and NBC and is currently writing a film for Netflix.
