Operation Sindoor Is About National Security, Not Politics: Anupriya Patel Slams Congress

Prayagraj (Uttar Pradesh) [India], June 8: Union Minister Anupriya Patel on Sunday strongly criticised the Congress party for allegedly politicising Operation Sindoor, asserting that the military action was a matter of national security and pride, not a subject for political controversy.

Speaking to the media, Patel stated,

“Operation Sindoor is a matter related to the security and respect of the nation. Congress leaders are doing politics on this subject unnecessarily.”

She highlighted the global support India has received for its firm stand against terrorism, referencing the recent international visit by India’s parliamentary delegation.

“Countries where our MPs visited have appreciated India’s anti-terrorism policy and clearly expressed solidarity with our stand,” she said.

Patel also underscored the importance of national unity, especially on foreign soil.

“When we travel abroad, our opinions should align with the efforts of the government, which has defended the nation’s pride and countered terrorism effectively,” she added.

India launched Operation Sindoor on May 7, targeting nine terror sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied-Kashmir, in retaliation for a brutal terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, that claimed 26 lives. In response to Pakistani cross-border shelling and drone attacks, India carried out precise strikes damaging enemy radar systems, communication centres, and airfields across 11 Pakistani airbases.

A ceasefire understanding between India and Pakistan was announced on May 10, following the escalation.

Patel concluded by urging political parties to stand united on issues of national interest:

“India’s decisive action has gained worldwide recognition. We should all support our nation’s efforts and stay united on matters of national security.”
